I AM STILL IN SHOCK OVER THIS: Square Enix Axes Sound Team

;____________________;

Granted, Yoko Shimomura, Nobuo Uematsu, and Yasunori Mitsuda haven't been part of the internal team at Square for a while, but OMG.  Square outsourcing its music and maybe its sound too?  Yes, Square Enix Music Online, I am one of those outraged followers.

I'm kind of having a terrible double-punch of sympathy for my fellow warriors, and that teenage heartbreak of having your favourite band break up.  I mean, I'd only just started following Ishimoto's work!  (He did this absolutely heart-breaking piece for Crisis Core, and this haunting piece for Dissidia, as well as the rather epic Chaos battle vocal track I seriously thought they'd brought in an outside group for that one at first, and not to mention those fantastic arrangements in The World Ends With You!  adslfjlasjdflksajdf I could max out the character limit going on about his portfolio)  Granted, none of these guys should have any trouble whatsoever finding new work, but sucks to be made redudant after working with a company for 12-15 years.  :/  And if Square can't afford to keep an internal sound team who the hell can?

Going to spend the rest of evening listening to the work of each of them in turn as a salute to their many years of hard work.  /overly dramatic.

Dinosaurs will make me feel better:

OH GOD.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THIS STORY:

Let Us Praise Awesome Dinosaurs

If you don't go read it after a paragraph like that, there is something wrong with you.

I haven't been posting much lately, mostly because I'm caught up in a variety of longfic, none of which apparently want to limp past the three-quarters mark.  So here are some fanfiction recs instead:

I am terribly far behind in Prince of Tennis at the moment (or incredibly far ahead if you don't have the internet), and as such, only finished off the first National Championship OVA a couple of days ago.

Now that I HAVE seen Episode 11, though, can I just say... OMG, TENNIS ZOMBIES.

That is the FREAKIEST thing I have ever seen.  Okay, maybe not the freakiest, but still the STUFF OF NIGHTMARES.  Very cool episode, though.  I am enjoying how increasingly unrealistic the tennis gets as the series goes on.  I mean, for most of the TV series, the shots either already existed or were at least theoretically possible under controlled conditions at professional levels, right?  But by the end of the Nationals, I expect real tennis will no longer hold any interest for me unless players glow or move so fast they leave after images whenever they get into a tight spot. And dinosaurs are killed. The dinosaurs are important.  In fact, here's a picture of the dinosaurs for no apparent reason other than the fact I just can't get enough of that animated sequence.
