Yosh! Time to finish off the tales of my time in Kanto! Wow I'm already so far behind, this is stuff from last year already. I would apologise for the photo spam, but it would be lying.

Although the exact timeline of what I got up to has already blurred in my head, one interesting journey I made was to Jimbocho!

So! Supanova Brisbane 2013 was last weekend. Or as I liked to call it, Nintendo Streetpass Palooza 2013 with a side of cosplay.

Seriously I spent at least half of the time just collecting streetpasses, guys.

Mostly cosplay pics under the cut )

So! I haven't been writing much the past two weeks, because I have been too busy having adventures.

One of these many adventures was Smash! in Sydney! Smash is probably my third-favourite con now (after PAX and Wai-Con) because even though it's only one day, it's one day absolutely crammed full of awesome things to see and do. Most cons I'm happy to trawl the trader's hall, maybe catch a screening, and chase down cosplayers for photographs and hang out with/meet new friends, but Smash is one of the cons where I want to go to panels and screenings and comps and since it's only one day you're forced to choose.

I cosplayed as Zelgadis from Slayers. You know, that 90s fantasy comedy anime in Megumi Hashibara's heyday? It was awesome.

Actually not that many pictures under the cut, mostly very brief con report )

So!  PAX AUS is a thing that happened.

I had not actually planned on to go to PAX AUS. Well, I did want to, but the tickets sold out five months in advance, which is something that has never happened to an Australian con ever, so I was left with nothing but jealous regret and focused my con hopes and energies elsewhere.

Until, Tuesday, a whole two days before said event, a friend hooked me up with a third party who had a spare ticket for sale!  At face value, even!

I frantically booked the cheapest flights and hotel I could find at such short notice, and so a matters of hours later, I was going to PAX! :D

It was fantastic. Totally worth it!  So glad I didn't miss out.

Cosplay and games, so so so many games )

It was Wai-Con on the weekend!  Some of you may recall my cosplay freakouts from the leadup.

Not much sleep was had the night before flying over to Perth!  Sleeping is for the plane.  Once I landed, though, it was pretty much non-stop!  We had cosplay skit rehearsals to do, plus shopping and eating and meeting so many new people!  Not to mention all the last-minute cosplay making and trips to Spotlight!

I'll skip all of that, and go straight to what people really care about - the con!

Wai-Con is the best con )

Tenth Anniversary of Brisnova this year.

I remember going to the very first one.  I've been to ten of these now!  (And have been saying that this one will be the last one for at least six of those.)  /feels old

I dressed up as the traveller from Journey!

Lots and lots of cosplay pics under the cut )

So, Manifest happened!  Some of you may remember my cosplay freakouts in the lead up to it.

mostly me talking about cosplay malfunctions under the cut )

EDIT:
Oh man forget all that, anyone wants to see a bunch of incredible Manifest cosplay WATCH THIS REALLY GOOD VIDEO:

It kind of summarises the convention better than I could anyway.

...Also kind of alarmed at how many people I recognise in this.  Australian convention scene is starting to feel small.

Just got back yesterday evening from an awesome trip to Melbourne!  A great many desserts and delicious foods were had.  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] agentlerain and [livejournal.com profile] hithluin for being such awesome travel buddies!  My feet are still sore from all the walking today.

Video Games Unplugged and Supanova mostly )

Brisbane was so lucky as to get a second Supanova in 2011!  As next year it's moving permanently to November and the April one is moving to the Gold Coast.

I don't normally cosplay at the local con, as the people I usually go with aren't particularly into cosplay (and there's way too many people from work I risk running across).  But they weren't interested in coming to this one (or had moved overseas by this point), so cosplay was on.  Because frankly, without cosplay, Supanova is the most boring con.  There were some cool guests, but those were all rather wasted on me.

Mostly just cosplay under the cut )

Brisbane Supanova is coming up in a few weeks - they've moved it to November, to make room for the Gold Coast one starting in April next year.  So this year Brisbane gets two Supanovas, hooray~!

Just posting to find out who's going?  Because I assumed nobody I knew would be, but apparently Colin Morgan (Merlin) and Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown, Back to the Future) have pulling power.  Here's the guest list.

In a fit of bad planning, I am still struggling to find summer-friendly cosplays in my closet, or at the very least something I can finish in the time remaining without somehow spending any money.  It kind of feels like one of those house renovation or Masterchef challenges.  Why hasn't Japan made a TV show about last minute cosplays yet?

SMASH!

It was SMASH! in Sydney on the weekend!

And that's all the introduction really needed.

A bit picture heavy! And fangirling-heavy too. )

I'm absolutely wrecked.  Sorry guys, I won't be able to make a Fifth Act update today, I had a look to see how much work the chapter still needed earlier and I found two enormous inconsistencies and about a million typos, which has made me paranoid and I'm really not in the mental condition to pick over it with the necessary fine-tooth comb.  But in consolation, here's a rather hastily thrown-together con report from Supanova! :D

I only got to go on the Saturday, as there were familial obligations on Sunday I could not gracefully wriggle out of after my blissfully family-free Easter.  :(  I pretty much cleaned up all the merch I was interested in on Saturday anyway - brought home a nice haul of old and relatively cheap Geneon-released soundtracks from Transreality.  *__*  And Supanova doesn't have heaps of things to do anyway, so one day is enough unless you're cosplaying, or spending most of your day standing in line to see a guest.  In fact, the more I think about it, the more I realise the primary activity at Supanova is standing in line.

Anyhow, pictures!  Cosplay!  That was the entire reason I went!  My cosplay photo-fu has become weak, so I didn't get as many photos as normal.  And a lot of them came out too blurry to really post, but here's a selection.  Cosplay attendance was down a little on last year - I think a portion of the anime audience has been driven off, a lot more of the cosplays were TV show and comic book related.  Or maybe they were slain by the heat.  But one fandom that turned up in unusually high numbers was Sailor Moon, of all things.  I saw at least three different Princess Serenities!

More pictures under the cut! )

I come bearing cosplay photos from last weekend's Supanova convention in Brisbane, Australia!  It wasn't quite as good this year, and the atmosphere was a bit weird this time - there wasn't as much energy and excitement as there normally is?  It was also abysmally crowded.  I'm seriously considering skipping next year.  Or maybe going to a convention in a different city so I don't see so many people I know.  :S

Anyhow, rather than talk about the convention itself, what we really want is pictures, right?!  Although I categorically refused to photograph any shinigami, Narutos, Sasukes, or Sakuras.  There were a hundred of them.
