Bleach is getting on the yaoi bandwagon?

So, I was watching Diamond Dust Rebellion.  Or, as I have to started to think of it - Ichigo and Hitsugaya's love story.

Seriously Shonen Jump, I think you're a bit confused about your demographic these days!  Not that I'm complaining.  But damn, the amount of innuendo in this movie is really hard to ignore after all that time watching Tenipuri.  Someone tell me I'm not just imagining this!

 

Look!  How adorable is little Hitsugaya?  SUPER-ADORABLE.  As though his fanbase was not large enough already.



Ichigo gets Hitsugaya into his room.  Never mind that - onto his BED.



Hitsugaya is rightly suspicious.



But he's determined to play hard-to-get.



Ichigo presumably has to sleep on the couch.



THIS PICTURE IS SO GOING TO BE ABUSED.



Did Ishida make Ichigo's bedspread or something?  What's with the Quincy design?



The morning after Hitsugaya sneaks out, but leaves a present behind.  May I point out that he leaves his haori with Ichigo, of all people.  I think I've been conditioned by anime to read much too deeply into this gesture.



ICHIGO!  That sounds like blackmail!  Are you that desperate to get Hitsugaya back into your bedroom?



Holy crap this expression.  HE DOESN'T WANT TO FIGHT ICHIGO.  NOT REALLY.



And again, because little Hitsugaya is so cute it should be illegal.



The other guy.  He sort of didn't interest me that much, but I have to mention him because the whole thing was basically him wanting Hitsugaya, and trying to eliminate Ichigo because he was the only wild card in the way of their true love. 



Some guys just don't handle breaking up very well.  Hitsugaya's got to sort him out.





Ichigo is pissed off that he's doing it alone and not sharing things the way lovers friends should.

THIS SUMS UP A LOT OF THINGS.



Things go a little off the rails at that point as they started divvying up screen time for people's Shikai's and Bankai's based on their rankings in the character popularity surveys.

Shonen Jump is getting INCESTUOUS.

So when you get to the end, Hitsugaya and Ichigo head to the top to fight together.  Because that's what the leading man and woman are supposed to do.  This is their fight.  It's about Hitsugaya getting rid of old boyfriends and letting Ichigo everyone in.



They celebrate their newfound unity by watching shards of ice fall.  How romantic.



Ichigo's got a nice expression.



And Hitsugaya realises that he really is in love.



NEVER MIND THAT YOU LET HIM CALL YOU TOUSHIROU WHEN HE HAD YOU IN HIS BEDROOM.


I like finding my own stories in these things.
