From the pile of WIP...

So, I have a lot of in-progress fic projects (in various degrees of in-progress-ness) and now that Beloved is finally squared away I thought I'd have a quick poll on what people might want to read next.  Kind of a way of getting my priority list in order I guess?  This is by no means a guarantee that fic will be the next fic I finish and post, as I'm inclined to follow my strongest muse of the moment whenever I'm not posting (and there are varying length factors at work), but my current method is to open all of my WIPs at once and work through them alphabetically from the first tab, closing and moving on to next tab whenever I finish a scene or find myself stuck and uninspired.  But I thought it might be better if I figured out what people most want to read next, and at least tab through in that order instead, since I usually only get two or three tabs in during each sitting.  So!  Poll time!

I've excised any fics from this list that are still prone to abandonment - these are all things I'm pretty sure I'll get around to finishing/posting eventually, even if the timeline might be ridiculous for some of them.

I finally settled on the Christmas fics, but tbh, I was very split between that, the Kunsel fic and the CotC Fallacious Deity sequel. I think I mostly went the Xmas fic route bc my longfic-attention's being pulled by Homestuck these days rather than FFVII, ahahahaha. xD why do I foresee the h/s section of my rec list growing to the size of FFVII's? |D;;;

lol, I tend to go in cycles with fandoms so it's only a matter of time before I get back in. xD 's happened with pokemon, KH, FF, etc and will probably happen again at some point, eheh (shiny new thing + big fandom = long honeymoon phase apparently |D).

Oh my God! I've just been scouring the 'net for a decent FFVII/Stargate crossover and then you put this poll up? --tears hair out-- Nooooo! Now I'll never get to sleep. I'll be fantasizing about your incredible, amazing fic-writing skills and dying of anticipation, waiting to see which fic wins the poll. --bites nails off--

LOL, good to hear that I'm not the only person who gets weirdly specific crossover cravings sometimes! XD Don't worry, I will eventually get around to posting it even if it doesn't poll well - and please don't build up your expectations too much, the cast or nature of the crossover might not align with your hopes and then that would be super disappointing!

I did indeed finish Beloved a couple of weeks ago, not to worry though, it'll still be there in the morning. :) Sleep well!

Talk about not making it an easy decision but I'm figuring for clearing some of your awaiting prompts where I know a few of us suggested Kunsel, we'll get some of him soon. So giftfics got my vote. Second choice is Kunsel's own story. What do you need to bribe him with so he becomes your most talkative muse? *grin*

I had a look, but I'm quite sure it was just yours this year! LOL I honestly didn't pay much attention to the seconds, I've been tackling the giftfics based on inspiration (luckily the types of prompts to get seconded are also ones that are easier to write.) :)

What possibly makes them easier to write and also to get seconded is that they are likely scenes of an event that was mentioned in passing during the fic they are an offshoot to. I'm doing that at the moment with a series of Cid and Sephiroth fics. I started with one prompt and now have another eleven ideas of sorts to write and they are coming out fairly easily once I get started. Doesn't hurt that they are my current crack pairing of choice which really does make them easy to write.

Which reminds me, I wanted to clarify - your prompt, set in Fifth Act universe? Setting will obviously change how I tackle it.

Hmmm can I get away with saying do whatever your muses tell you? *grin* I do love your Kunsel any which way I can have him and don't want to force a Cloud/Kunsel if you've got a better flow of Cloud & Kunsel going on. Cloud and Kunsel in fic together is win either way :)

And now I'm going to have to pull up Fifth Act yet again for bedtime reading.

Voted for Junjou because it's rare I see an meaningful fic on this fandom and Hiroki is one of my favourite characters, I'm sure that if you pull this off it'll be fantastic =D

I have no idea how Junjou fans will receive this fic when I start posting it, but thank you for the vote of confidence! It's always a little scary approaching a fic in a fandom you've never posted in before.

So I said giftfic because there were so many prompts that I liked in there, but the FFVII/SG1 crossover looked interesting despite the only thing I know about SG1 is what a StarGate is. The Fallacious Deity sequel would be amazing too.

I didn't expect so many people to want more giftfic! The quality of my output always feels like such a crapshoot on those. But guess I'll have to tackle a few more of those than originally planned. :)

Ugh Livejournal knocked me off again. The last post was me. Your quality isn't that different for the ones hots compared to your longfics. Its also nice to just see small snippets sometimes of the verses you created. It allows us to try and imagine and fill in the pieces of what happened in between. Its why you get so many Fifth Act requests and now Beloved requests. You even got asked for a more definitive ending for Dear Kunsel.

The quality may seem to decrease for you as you've mentioned when writing your longfics, that you usually plan a lot of things out in advance and usually come to love the story, its usually only at the end that you start to wonder if you should finish it. Maybe the one shot drabbles just aren't long enough for you to feel really connected to them. I'm not saying you should necessarily write longer drabbles to make us happy (which it would but thats not the point), but that your drabbles do have a quality that is consistent to your longfic.

Err I totally just went of topic but oh well. I fully support your choice in whatever you decide to write next.

Thanks. :) I don't necessarily mean that I like them all less, more that the quality feels all over the shop - a couple of the short giftfics I've written I actually like as much or more than the longfics, but there are also always a few which are just terrible or bland or incredibly mediocre which I probably wouldn't have posted in any other context. I guess I'm lucky and you guys only remember the good ones, huh? :) Though you definitely have a point too about the attachment you get to longer pieces.

This poll has been surprisingly informative! Which is the best kind of poll, really. I still write what I want first and foremost, but when all else is equal I like to make the effort to accommodate you guys, too.

Don't know, sorry! I'll do my best to get to it, but I don't make any promises on filling all of them. And I have to be honest, as endlessly awesome as cross-dressing Cloud is, I'm struggling to write that without repeating myself, since I've tackled that trope quite a few times now...

LOL, thanks for the suggestion anon, but it's not what happens after that is the issue so much as there are only so many times where I can write the description and the revelation and process before I find myself a bit bored.

I have ways around it - which I have used in the past three fics of this type - but even then I can only riff on the same basic idea so many times. And that's just in my own writing, not counting the many crossdressing Cloud fics already out there!

Not saying I won't write it, just throwing that out there as explanation.

XD and then have people say 'she's hot' and have everyone wonder how they got away from the blockades? Then a later scene of someone asking how they got away and Cloud looking away and not answering. Hmm...

I picked Xmas gift fics (in MAY! *snicker*), but my 2nd choice would be the SG-1 crossover, as that strikes me as a very unusual idea and I'd like to see what you have in mind. The Kunsel idea also sounds interesting so that would be my #3 pick.

Not making promises on individual giftfic fills, I'm definitely not going to get to all of them (there were a LOT of prompts, the most yet, if I were to do all of them it would take half the year), but thanks for the input!

Well, I'm curious about the Kunsel fic, even if I barely know his character (I know him because of your fics. basically XD). Is it going to be a fic in the past or in the present? (I'm not sure if he is alive). So, I'm letting my curiosity choose for me ^^.

It's more of a what-if, actually! Heh, he's a pretty minor character, I cannot explain why I have latched on to him so. The fic will be a long time coming though since it's still early stages.

XD Thank you, but please don't check that often for your own sake! I'm lucky if I update once a fortnight these days. Or you can track tags on LJ too I think, to get e-mail notifs when there's an update tagged 'fanfiction' for example.

I'm a little concerned now though about the anticipation for this! I'm pretty sure what I'm writing is absolutely nothing like what people are imagining. Now I'm afraid you'll all be horribly disappointed! Ah well.
