Author's Note: I never finished or posted this sooner because I was never satisfied by the quality of it or the direction it went, nor felt the need for it to exist beyond being some sort of bridge between Fallacious Deity and all of the 'returning home' prompts I got from all the giftfics back in the day. I don't like doing sequels and this fic 100% exemplifies why. There's not much to this beyond a bit of very old, un-betaed wordspew that I'm posting half in celebration of the upcoming console release of Dissidia NT and half to get it out of my head to make room for new and hopefully better things. So it's going to be pretty unpolished and very rough and slapdash, as fair warning, but figured this might be a good place to get back into posting.

My New Year's resolution of sorts was to try to post something once a week regardless of quality, at least until I run out of backlog. But I'm also not going to hold myself too strictly to that and beat myself up about it, so yeah, fair warning there, I could fall off the wagon again at any moment. Real life > Fandom life, and I've not always been good at balancing that in the past. But I've also dearly, dearly missed writing and posting and I figure taking a more casual approach to it will net the best of both worlds, and hopefully if anyone is still around they might get some enjoyment from reading.

Anyway now that I have hopefully tempered expectations, here's some fic!

Xmas Giftfics 2012 Part 1

I am posting the first batch of giftfics only two days after Christmas. Are you proud of me? I am proud of me. Even though it's honestly probably because I'm procrastinating on cosplay or finishing Beloved.

Anyhow, these are all way longer than intended, that's why there's only three of them so far. I really need to start getting the hang of that whole 'drabble' thing. As always, these have been written by the seat of my pants without much in the way of editing and so are of varying quality. Author’s Note: I’m blaming this one entirely on

tenshinoakuma. How this hijacked my dwindling fanfic time, I don’t know. This isn't what I was supposed to be writing at all.

The rules I set for myself were thus: Dissidia, how it might have gone if it only used parts of the cast not present in Duodecim. I broke this rule only for ExDeath, because, um, yeah, FF5 doesn’t actually really have a cast of villains? It’s ExDeath and Gilgamesh and that’s it. I could have wiki’d some of the sub-bosses, but that would no longer be fulfilling the whole ‘connections between those summoned’ requirement of canon. Also, FF5’s sub-bosses were lame. The fact I had to wiki them despite playing the game not all that long ago is testament to that.

Also, I left out FF11 altogether. Not like Shanttoto or Prishe were in the main storyline anyway.

Anyhow, I digress! This was written sort of as a series of what were originally intended to be stand-alone snippets, so I'd be more inclined to label these as a series of related drabbles more than a multi-chapter fic. The story beats are largely the same as Dissidia itself, naturally, so that should hopefully cut down on disorientation. I’m marking each section with its respective FF, so you can only check out the FFs you’re interested in if you want.

I don’t have a specific update schedule for this, because my schedule is still in a bit of flux at the moment and I’ve got a fair bit on my plate. Probably an update once a week, likely Saturdays.
