So I found this fic and weeeeeee.
I have a big hidden love for Genesis/Cloud, and a longfic for this pairing? An amazing, IC longfic for this pairing with all their issues, and Sephiroth meddling like he does? Gift of the Goddess, probably.
I read The Fifth Act before this I'm just terrible at commenting, but I have to say I'm absolutely in love the way you write Genesis. His diva-attitude like Tifa pointed it out here, his general attitude, his love for theatrics, gosh, I love everything about your Genesis.
But then again, I love everything about Genesis in general.
I really loved the whole world's response to the events of the games, it makes perfect sense. And AVALANCHE's underlying fear that what if Cloud gets controlled again. It is a valid fear, and as we know, valid fears can push people into drastic actions.
I love how Cloud and Genesis need to learn how to communicate with each other about their issues, and how they took the steps neccessary for that. I love how Tifa is understandably hurt, but her biggest concern wasn't Cloud's sexuality but the fact that she doesn't know Genesis, so she has no idea if he would treat Cloud well or not.
I have to agree with Reno a bit, though. I feel bad that they couldn't even get a drop on Sephiroth for Elena. Not killing him, of course, but you know. Clip his wing a little for example. But I guess such is life - sometimes you can't avenge the ones you love, sometimes you have to fight off your bitterness a different way.
I love how everyone's actions were understandable, the conclusions they reached were logical... simply just neither of them had all the pieces that were needed to see clearly. So they hurt each other, and they need to work to fix their friendships. They started to work it out with apologising, but they all have long way to go.
Also? Cloud thinking that Genesis would want to adopt Nanaki? Best. Thing. Ever.
Seriously. Thank you for this experience.
