Your Fandom History As Past Relationships

Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] thesundaywriter.  It sounded amusing.

The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and laughed about it is genuinely sorry, but you're reluctant to grant forgiveness, because you know how that song and dance would go:
Hikaru no Go.  Probably more because of how the anime went than the fandom itself.  Was utterly enthralled by it, up until a certain point where, you know, Sai… I would have probably been okay if it ended there, or even a couple of episodes of fallout until Hikaru has his little epiphany, but it kept going on and on and on after that…   And the fandom itself, wow, takes itself a little bit too seriously sometimes.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp
Code Geass and Death Note.  Love them both, but I’m very touch-base-once-in-a-blue-moon with them.

The mysterious dark one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 AM at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized s/he really was fucking crazy:
Kuroshitsuji.  It was a brief affair.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor and whom you'd still really like to get with again, although you're relieved s/he doesn't actually live in town:
Eyeshield21.

The steady:
Final Fantasy VII. (At least for now.  Though I guess I left it and came back to it after a long break, so...)

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties, but with whom you've never gotten serious (and find that it's a bit of a shame you haven't, at that):
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.  I spent a very small amount of time writing generally bad fics for it (only one of which ever got posted), but I’ve never really been able to get stuck into it, either as a participant or a lurker.  But I often still want to.  Maybe if there were some more any decent longfics to whet my appetite for more fandom...

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with, but ultimately you're just good buddies:
Hahaha, Harry Potter, probably.  I go lurking in it whenever I need fic fix, because there’s always new fic in HP, but it’s an intimidating fandom for its size and fervour.

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool person except it's never really gone anywhere:
Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at them and thinking, "How the hell did they land all these cool people?"
Merlin.  I’m sorry.  I tried watching some, and I can see a bit of the appeal, but seriously?

The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and who you measure all other potential partners against:
Seiken Densetsu 3.  Though it would probably be better described as a ‘first love’, it was such a small, tightknit fandom, and we all so loved the game.  Active Mana fans are few, but dedicated.

The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better
Bakuman.  I know, I'm slow to the party.  Just didn't want to get caught by awful cliffhangers like in Death Note.

The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only they'd clean up a bit:
Tenipuri.  I’m fairly obviously not active in it anymore, but would still like to revisit.  Except… ShinTenipuri…  And to be honest, it so very nearly lost me with the 'amnesia' twist, too.  :|

Your hot new flame:
Otomen.  I don’t even know how this happened.  Maybe there was a sudden deficiency of shoujo manga in my diet or something.  It's probably going to burn out pretty quickly, as far as I can tell, there is no fandom.

The one who stole your significant other:
FFVII.  I was so totally invested in Tenipuri and Tenipuri alone for a long time, and then Advent Children Complete and Crisis Core came along and suddenly I seem to be doing nothing but writing Final Fantasy fic.

....I couldn't find a home for Natsume Yuujinchou in here.  :|  I guess maybe 'it's complicated'?

(for the clingy one, that'd be Kuroshitsuji for me. And sort of sick of it all, but it keeps popping up everywhere!)

Lol, no no! Keep the madness rolling!

How about...

the fuck buddy you're always crawling into bed with but who you can never look eye to eye with in the day time or trying to flee from?

that amazing person everyone is always talking about, and you've thought about it, but the moment's past you by? (code geass! death note?)

the sexy little flirt you end up spending all your money on, only for the love to die extremely fast?

the one who your best friend adores but you know they're just a rebound and there's better things ahead?

the one who has all the right lines, every hair in place and takes you on what should be the best date on your life and yet there's no heart there? (Nabari no Ou?)

the ship passing through the night, who you bought a drink for at the bar, slept with quickly but then left the next morning?

the one which drives you insane, and you have endless arguments with but in the end you always make the effort to stay together?

and oh, simple but:

the one who took your innocence (and left you wanting more).

Ahahaha, brilliant!

....I think we actually have enough for a whole meme expansion now. (But is anybody in enough fandoms to fill them all?!)

(Tis a challenge we should offer up!)
